Account & Data Deletion
1. Overview
You have the right to delete your Jumuika account at any time. This page explains how to request account deletion and what happens to your data. This process applies to both Customer and Agent accounts on our website and mobile applications (iOS and Android).
2. How to Delete Your Account
You can request account deletion through any of the following methods:
2.1 In the Mobile App
- Open the Jumuika app
- Go to Settings
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm your decision
- Your account will be scheduled for deletion
2.2 On the Website
- Log in to your account
- Navigate to Settings
- Click Delete Account
- Confirm your decision
2.3 Via Email
Send a deletion request to privacy@jumuika.co.ke from the email address associated with your account. Include your full name and registered phone number for verification.
3. What Gets Deleted
Upon account deletion, the following data will be permanently removed within 30 days:
- Profile information (name, email, phone number, profile photo)
- Saved favourites and property alerts
- Search history and recently viewed properties
- Push notification tokens and device registrations
- AI conversation history (Juma AI chat)
- Notification preferences and settings
- Social authentication connections (Google, Facebook, Apple)
For Agent Accounts, Additionally:
- All property listings will be unpublished and removed
- All property reels and videos will be deleted from our CDN
- Lead data and notes will be anonymised
- Social media connections and post history will be removed
- Webhook configurations will be deactivated
- Referral links will be deactivated
4. What We Retain
Certain data is retained after account deletion for legal, financial, and safety reasons:
- Transaction records: M-Pesa payment records, subscription history, and credit purchases are retained for 7 years as required by Kenya Revenue Authority regulations.
- Communication records: Email and SMS delivery logs are retained for 90 days for dispute resolution, then permanently deleted.
- Legal holds: If your account is involved in an active dispute, investigation, or legal proceeding, relevant data may be retained until the matter is resolved.
- Anonymised analytics: Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics may be retained indefinitely for service improvement.
5. Mobile App Local Data
When you delete your account, the following actions occur on your mobile device:
Immediate (upon account deletion request):
- Authentication tokens are cleared from encrypted storage
- You are logged out of the app
- FCM push notification token is disassociated from your account on our servers
Within your control:
- Local favorites, search history, recently viewed properties, and preferences remain on your device until you clear app data or uninstall the app
- To fully remove all local data: Go to device Settings > Apps > Jumuika > Storage > Clear Data, or uninstall the app
Server-side (within 30 days):
- All data listed in the deletion policy above is removed as described
Recommendation:
Before deleting your account, we recommend:
- Exporting your data (available in Account Settings)
- Downloading any property media you wish to keep (Agents)
- Clearing app data on your device after deletion is confirmed
6. Cancellation Period
After requesting deletion, you have a 14-day grace period to change your mind. During this period, you can cancel the deletion by logging back into your account or contacting us. After 14 days, the deletion process begins and cannot be reversed.
7. Active Subscriptions
If you have an active Agent subscription, it will be cancelled upon account deletion. No refunds will be issued for the remaining subscription period. Unused credits will be forfeited. We recommend using any remaining credits before requesting deletion.

9. Data Export Before Deletion
We recommend exporting your data before requesting account deletion. Customers can use the Export Data feature in account settings to download a copy of their personal data in a machine-readable format. Agents should download any property media they wish to keep.
